๐ŸŒŸ Characters for the Month of April: Open-Minded & Optimistic Traits

Each month we celebrate character traits that help our school community grow stronger.

Open-Minded
Being open-minded means being willing to listen to new ideas and opinions, even when they are different from our own. Open-minded students show respect, curiosity, and understanding. They ask questions, learn from others, and keep their minds open to new perspectives.

Optimistic
Optimistic students believe that good things can happen, even when challenges appear. They stay positive, keep trying, and encourage others to do the same. Optimism helps us face problems with confidence and hope.

Throughout April, teachers will recognize students who demonstrate these traits in the classroom, on the playground, and throughout our school community.

๐Ÿ“ CAASPP State Assessments

During the month of April, many of our students will participate in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) assessments. These state assessments (3rd-8th grade) help measure student learning in English Language Arts, Science (5th and 8th grade only) and Mathematics and give schools valuable information about how to support student success.

Testing will take place during the school day over several sessions. Teachers will help students feel prepared and confident. The whole school will be giving students in 3rd -8th grade positive encouragement.

How you can help:

  • By ensuring your child gets a good night's rest
  • Attending school on time each school day

Teachers may be reaching out for donations for snacks for their class.

Thank you to our PFC for providing snacks for one of the days of testing!

๐Ÿ’ฌ A Message to Families

April is a wonderful time to talk with children about listening to others and staying positive when things feel difficult. Encouraging open conversations at home helps students build empathy, resilience, and confidence.

Thank you for your continued support in helping our students grow academically and personally.

Together, letโ€™s make April a month full of open minds, positive attitudes, and great learning opportunities! ๐ŸŒผ
